99/98 are Back to Back National Champs

U18 Michigan Hawks ECNL National Champions

The U18s Michigan Hawks beat the San Diego Surf to capture the ECNL National Championship on Tuesday morning in Rockford, Illinois, becoming the first Hawks team to win back to back national titles.

The Hawks were down 1-0 at halftime but rallied for 3 second half goals, 1 by Madi Wolfbauer and 2 Riley Tanner. The Surf would score a goal late but could not find the equalizer due in large part to the defending of Abby Willerer and Sarah Clark and clutch goalkeeping by Bethany Kopel.

The Hawks have had an unprecedented run at the oldest age groups reaching 5 out of the last 6 U18 ECNL National Championships and winning 3.
