U17 Hawks are ECNL National Champions

It’s been 2 years since the 2000 birth year team last played in the ECNL National Championship game. Having played for the ultimate prize at U13, U14 and U15. They were back in familiar territory albeit in unfamiliar fashion.

The U17s began their quest, to recapture the trophy the won at u14, as vast underdogs. Qualifying as a wildcard and not being picked as one of the favorites was a constant motivation for the players and staff.

After defeating Ohio Premier in the quarter final and surviving a penalty shootout against Colorado Storm in the Semi Final, the Hawks faced off against Crossfire Premier in the ECNL Final.

Goals from Kelsey Adams, Natalie Viggiano and Camryn Evans as well as commanding defensive performances from Lexy “Smiley” Smith, Sam “Grumpy” Sklarski and the Hands Team gave them a deserved 3-2 victory.

Congrats to the Bad News Hawks and their coach Derek Williford on a fantastic run and another National Championship.
